Interim Taskings
Submitted by BFreemanMA@gmail.com on September 12, 2012, 4:14 pm EDT

ALCON,

According to my Force Status screen, nearly all of you are back on-station within my deadline. Thank you very much for your dedication. I expect the few stragglers to be on within one week as we need to move forward with the next phase: training and currency missions. In the next few weeks, all personnel can expect to receive missions designed to help us remain current, to improve our skills and teamwork, and to give us an added incentive to fly during this "down time." More information will be given via flash NOTAM in a few weeks, but I wanted to inform everyone of what was coming down the wire.

ACC MAJCOM Newsletter May 2012
Submitted by BFreemanMA@gmail.com on May 31, 2012, 10:30 am EDT

Good afternoon, Gentlemen! I hope this newsletter finds you in good health. At the end of each month, I like to make it a habit of writing a brief newsletter to ensure that everyone in the MAJCOM is aware of what’s going on with everyone else and also to open our lines of communication.

Let’s start with our newest pilots! The Air Combat Command welcomes the following pilots to our ranks: Lt. Joshua Walden, 7BW, 9BS, B-1B pilot; Lt. Nicholas Cavacini, 20FW, 55FS, F-16 pilot; and Lt. Douglas DeFouw, 1FW, 27FS, F-22 Pilot. All three pilots have obtained MR status since their PCSO, so we look forward to their presence during Red Flag Alaska 2012.

Speaking of which, Red Flag Alaska 2012 (RFA2012) is due to ramp up in roughly a month. All elements should be on-station at PAEI at this time. If there will be a delay in your deployment, please let me know so we can avoid inactivity. In the downtime between here and STARTEX, all on-station pilots have received a mission to request a training sortie in the ACC subforums. Please participate in the training as RFA2012 is looking to be our most difficult and challenging Red Flag event yet. It will require all of our skills and teamwork to overcome. If you’re interested in learning more, touch base with a pilot who was at Red Flag Nellis 2012: they got a small taste of what is brewing!

Finally, just some numbers on activity. As ACC/CC, I get a nice little readout of hours flown, broken down by Wing and Squadron. Here are the numbers I have. Keep in mind that we have a few empty squadrons which explains the 0s we see.

AIR COMBAT COMMAND
MAJCOM Staff: 6.4000

4th Fighter Wing
Wing Staff:
335th Fighter Squadron: 38.7333

Total Flight Hours (4th Fighter Wing): 38.7333
57th Wing
Wing Staff:
66th Weapons Squadron: 9.4833
57th Adversary Tactics Group:

Total Flight Hours (57th Wing): 9.4833
509th Bomb Wing
Wing Staff:
13th Bomb Squadron:

Total Flight Hours (509th Bomb Wing): 0
20th Fighter Wing
Wing Staff: 8.8667
55th Fighter Squadron: 18.8833

Total Flight Hours (20th Fighter Wing): 27.75
2nd Bomb Wing
Wing Staff:
96th Bomb Squadron:

Total Flight Hours (2nd Bomb Wing): 0
1st Fighter Wing
Wing Staff: 33.4000
27th Fighter Squadron: 8.4000

Total Flight Hours (1st Fighter Wing): 41.8
7th Bomb Wing
Wing Staff:
9th Bomb Squadron:

Total Flight Hours (7th Bomb Wing): 0
552nd Air Control Wing
Wing Staff:
963rd Airborne Air Control Squadron:

Total Flight Hours (552nd Air Control Wing): 0
354th Fighter Wing
Wing Staff:
367th Air Expeditionary Force:
18th Aggressor Squadron:

Total Flight Hours (354th Fighter Wing): 0

Total MAJCOM Hours (Air Combat Command): 124.1666

As you can see, ALL the wings have put in a huge effort and are active, giving the ACC MAJCOM the title of most active MAJCOM in terms of hours flown! You can also see that I have some work to do to catch up, with my measly 6.4 hours. Work has been getting in the way lately, but I will try to ramp it up on my end and touch base with you all via VATSIM or Teamspeak.

All in all, we are VERY strong in support and numbers and I am proud to have the priviledge of leading you all. Please do not hesitate to email me with any questions or ring me up on Teamspeak if I can be of assistance. Keep up the fantastic work, all!

Q1 Flight Currency and Minimum Monthly Flight
Submitted by chris.dubtw@gmail.com on March 29, 2012, 6:11 am EDT

To: ALL

I reviewed the currencies requirement as well as minimum monthly flights and assigned the due items in a mission to you. Perform all necessary flights and file one or multiple pirep as needed. Make sure you file your mission number only in your last pirep to clear the mission status

Make sure you review the document 11-202 VUSAF Pilot Training Continuing Training Program for your currency. For those who are also Instructor Pilot please note that you also need to meet the requirements set in 36-106 Instructor Pilots.

The currency log can be reviewed in the AETC Training center

Monthly Flight Requirement for February
Submitted by chris.dubtw@gmail.com on February 26, 2012, 6:08 am EST

The month of February is ending soon and I would like to remind our members of the requirement set by vAFI 36-100 Paragraph 1.2.

You have to perform a minimum of 4 flights a month. For this you dont need a mission number you can fly around your home base , doing some pattern work and shooting approach. This is good as this will be counting in your quarter currencies requirement.

Instructor Pilots need to perform more flights as set by vAFI 36-106 if they want to maintain their IP status active.

Finally the Teamspeak(TS) server is up 24H a day and I stronly recommend you to be on TS when flying in Vatsim so other member can have opportinity to fly with you . (escort or formation )

Offline Flights
Submitted by scottmerritt11@msn.com on January 14, 2012, 11:41 pm EST

Gentlemen, I have been noticing an increase in offline flying here at vUSAF. I ask you all to remember that as per AFI-36-100
2.11 On-Line Flying: All pilots shall be proficient in flying online and utilizing FSInn.
(SquawkBox may be approved for certain aircraft assignments.)
2.12 Private Servers: Private servers may be used for training or special events,
exercises, and operations. The VUSAF uses the VATSIM network to the maximum
extent possible to recruit other pilots. VUSAF pilots are expected to conduct the majority
of their operations on-line on the VATSIM network.
Also, this comes directly from Air Staff, if any individual decides to do an offline flight you are now required to provide a screen shot of pilot information in the logbook in FS. In the log book there is an area to see the details of your flight. That is what we will require to have a screen shot of. If you do not provide us with a screen shot, your MISREP will be denied. This has been put in place to make sure that everyone is actually making the flights. Remember, it is always better to just fly on VATSIM rather than offline. Not only do you get the chance to have ATC but you also help the club out by basically advertising for vUSAF.

P10 - Proficiency Sortie filled in Misrep
Submitted by chris.dubtw@gmail.com on January 8, 2012, 10:47 am EST

On the last quarter currency report we detected an issue on the way pilots filed a Misrep with a P-10.

vAFI-11-202 defines P10 as sortie that comprises a full mission profile. This means that when you file a P10 you must also have performed at least a M10 or M20 or M41 or M50 during the flight.

So as a simple rule your number of P10 should always be less than the sum of M10+M20+M41+M50.

For example Combat Air Patrol mission without any events such as M10 or M41 cant be claimed as P10.

Same for Air to Ground to qualify as a P10 you need at least one M20 or a M50.

From now on file your MISREP in accordance with vAFI-11-202

All pilots shall remedy ASAP to this currency lapse by flying profile flights with the missing currency.

Your wing commander should already be in contact without you for this and may have assigned a mission for this.

Reminder to all pilots
Submitted by scottmerritt11@msn.com on December 15, 2011, 1:13 am EST

This is a reminder to all pilots that when flying on the VATSIM Network, you are required to put http://www.vusaf.org in your remarks section. Air Staff has been noticing some pilots not doing so while they are flying. The main reason behind this is so we can get advertising out there and potentially recruit new pilots. Please make sure that it is put into your remarks section when you file the flight plan. Hope everyone is having a good week.

Minimum Flight Requirements
Submitted by trystanv@gmail.com on July 5, 2011, 5:54 pm EDT

Gentleman,

Some of you might have noticed that you have been marked inactive. This comes after a review in which it was noticed that several of you did not meet your minimum flight requirements for last Month. As per AFI 36-100 1.2.1 ''All active duty VUSAF members are required to fly a minimum of
four flights a month.''.

It goes without saying that with Red Flag nearly upon us, it would be preferred that everybody maintains their minimum flight requirements in order to be eligible to participate.

Pilots that have been marked inactive need to complete a Profile flight in order to regain their active status and be able to participate in Red Flag Alaska.

End of RFA2010
Submitted by bpryoraz@gmail.com on August 8, 2010, 1:50 pm EDT

Greetings all,

RFA2010 is over, most everyone I talked to enjoyed this years event and I think almost everyone present is able to take a new tactic, procedure, or an understanding of the complex environment modern combat brings.

A big thank you to all who participated and especially A3 Brett Knuth, Brig Gen. Sean Peterson, and Captain Nathaniel Slater for working tirelessly to make this years event a success.

This was an opportunity for myself and the other new MAJCOM leadership to get used to a large scale event and I know our team has came out with some ideas on how to improve things in the future. In closing if you have any suggestions please e-mail them to myself, Sean, and Don.

Thank you again!

Your 2010 RFA2010 Team.

Submitted by markness@verizon.net on July 19, 2010, 9:02 pm EDT

Gentlemen of the vACC,

It is with a heavy heart I am writing to all of you. I have put in my papers to step down as the vACC Commander and I wanted you to hear it from me first. As you all know for the last several months I have not been around and ineffective as a leader and I apologize to all of you for that. I know most of you know my circumstances with my son and understand why I have not been around. I want to thank all of you for stepping up and keeping the vACC the best MAJCOM in the vUSAF in my absence. I am not leaving the club but transferring to another MAJCOM as a line pilot and back to my original rank of vCol. I will continue my duties as a member of the Board of Governors and continue to harass as many of you as I can on team speak every chance I getļ. I am hoping things settle down very soon real world so I get a chance to step back up and help the club in any way shape or form in some sort of leadership role as required. You all still have my email and would love to stay in contact and will be more then glad to help in any way so do not hesitate in dropping me a line to say hi or ask a question. It has been a wonderful experience and hell of lot of fun working with all of you. The worst part is I will no longer be a part of the top MAJCOM in the club. Have fun my friends and keep up all the great work!!!!!!

Regards,

vACC Safety Standown Update
Submitted by markness@verizon.net on March 6, 2010, 3:50 pm EST

Guys after some thought I figured the fastest way to get everbody up and flying again is to do the following.
1. Each and every pilot of the vACC is to either read for the first time or re read vAFI36-100(Officers Handbook). This is located in the left column of the webpage in the vUSAF Legal Services area.
2. Once vAFI-36-100 is read You are to email your commander and cc me that you have read it and we will release each of you as we get the emails. This is Mandatory for every pilot regardless of rank. Do not fly until you get an email from either your Wing/Squad Commander.
Again guys I just want to make sure we are performing to the standard the vUSAF sets forth and to do that this is required reading for starters. Nobody is in trouble I am doing this to make sure we are all on the same page with regards to the basic vUSAF rules. I look forward to your emails and we will get you back in the air as soon as we hear from you.

Transfers
Submitted by markness@verizon.net on February 10, 2010, 2:19 pm EST

Guys we have had a increase in the requests for transfers in the past months which is causing instability within our MAJCOM. Please review AFI-36-104 for details. I have listed below the basic elegibility.

2. Eligibility
2.1. Pilots
2.1.1. A member must have completed MQT prior to requesting transfer, and
served a minimum of three months as a Mission Ready pilot.
2.1.2. A member not meeting the requirements of Section 2.1 may request a
hardship waiver by petitioning his Commanding Officer. Under special
circumstances, a waiver may be requested through the AF/DP. The AF/CS
has final authority to grant a waiver.

We will obviously grant hardship waivers based on real world obligations or technical issues but those waivers will be looked at carefully. Please understand these regulations are to keep pilots from bouncing around everytime they get an itch to fly a new airframe which becomes a logistics nightmare from a command level. More so it makes it very difficult for us to get any level of stability if we are transfering pilots every month or two. Please review AFI 36-104 before requesting a transfer and make sure you meet all the requirements.

Thanks Guys,

Mark

13 Jan. 2010 Training Event at PAEI
Submitted by markness@verizon.net on February 9, 2010, 1:21 pm EST

Well guys since we have past Red Flag Scenery files and all of the FSnav. files required for Alaska our next stop on our weekend training tour will be up at PAEI Alaska. I know this is a haul but we can use the cross country hours not to mention the scenery and terrain up there is second to none for low level operations. Now that we have speant the last two weeks working on the basics ie. Comms. and just getting used to working with large groups we are ready to take it up knotch. We will focus this weekend on more advanced combat training for both Fighter and Bomber assets. Again I know it is a haul but I think we can get everybody up there by Saturday and will stay up there for the next two weekends. You guys are authorized to make the required legs to get there based on your schedule this week. See you there and if you have any questions please do not hesitate in dropping me an email.

MArco is probalby the most determined individual I have seen come our way. He is one to never give up and no matter how busy he is he always seems to get it done for ya.

Thnx Marco!!!!!

Denver event

The vZDV Events Department is proud to host the 2009 Rocky Mountain Rumble event this February 28th, between the hours of 1100 and 2000 MST. This event will be staffed with our controllers from all around the world, as well as many of us meeting together in a conference center in the Denver area. This event historically spotlights Aspen (KASE), Colorado Springs (KCOS), and Denver International (KDEN) airports, but pilots are welcome to depart/arrive from anywhere! We will be staffing KASE, KCOS, and KDEN to the brim, as well as many positions in the Denver TRACON and Denver Enroute Center. As we are currently working on new Center divisions for events, we will publish information regarding which center (ie DEN_22_CTR) controls which part of our sector in our forums. This thread, http://denartcc.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1430 will hold all that information, as well as much information for pilots in regards to expected routes, airport parking spaces, and other flight planning information. Any and all traffic is welcome to come enjoy the event! Controllers from adjacent centers and beyond are encouraged to staff at a minimum a Center position, as we will be staffing a senior controller as a Traffic Management Unit, providing aircraft sequencing and other Traffic Management Programs when things get busy! Any controllers, pilots, or VATSIM enthusiasts who live in the Denver area and are interested in observing, flying, or controlling from our Conference Center, please email events [at] denartcc.org and we will provide you with further information. NOTE: Position signups will be completed via email. See the forums for directions on how to do so.

Pleasee our fourms and here http://denartcc.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1430 for more detailed info
