920th Rescue Wing (KCOF)Mission: The 920th Rescue Wing is the only Air Force Reserve Command combat search and rescue unit. It trains and equips personnel to search for, locate and recover U.S. Armed Forces personnel during military operations. The 920th also has secondary missions that include: Providing rescue support for astronauts on NASA space shuttle missions as part of the Department of Defense Manned Spaceflight Team, providing safety and security surveillance of the Eastern Range during all launches from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and Kennedy Space Center, providing search and rescue support for civilians who are lost or in distress, and providing humanitarian and disaster relief operations.
